Play.tm sat down with Rich Farrelly, creative lead and Noah Heller, senior producer of Call of Duty World at War. They talk about how interactive and destructable is the world, collaboration with Infinity Ward, the multiplayer side of things and much more.
Do you feel pressure from the success of CoD 4?
Well, there’s an incredible amount of pressure of course, but we’re up for it. We’ve had two years to work on this project, this is the first time some of the developers here have had that long to work on a game. We thrive on this kind of competition.
Anyone who’s trying to do their best work, applies their own pressure any way. We know that game is out there. Its awesome. We want to make sure that everyone who plays our game thinks the same thing.
GameTrailers had the honor to interview some of the people working on Call of Duty: World at War for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii and Nintendo DS. They tell why they’ve chosen to leave the modern wars and get back to the classic World War II theme.
Nintendo showed off quite a lot of footage of the Wii-version of Call of Duty: World at War. In the gameplay trailer shown during their press conference we saw a lot of flamethrower action, Wii Zapper-gameplay and some shots of the co-op mode.
During its press conference Activision has released more information on its upcoming FPS-game Call of Duty: World at War. The most important news is that Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Bauer from the popular 24 series, will be one of the voice actors for the game. They also announced two new weapons, namelijk the bazooka, the flamethrower and the firetank. They’re very destructive, but they can also destroy yourself. Through co-op mode you’ll be competing one-versus-one and iwth up to four people online.
McFarlane Toys, a toy company, is working on action figurines of Call of Duty: World at War. At this moment they are working on four soldiers that are in the game. One soldier will cost around $10 and all four of the collectables should come out along with the game this Fall. These are the four soldiers:
